Hospital to Home Partnership Program

H.780, An Act Establishing the Hospital to Home Partnership Program, creates a program which aims to stimulate collaboration between acute-care hospitals and aging services access points to help improve the transition from hospitals to homes and communities. This bill emphasizes communication with community providers to facilitate institutional diversion and increase discharge rates to home settings instead of placements in skilled nursing facilities.

Improving the Quality of Long-Term Care Facilities

H. 777, An Act Supporting Seniors’ Financial Stability, requires the development and ongoing refinement of a model curriculum designed to improve financial literacy and stability among seniors. The state treasurer's office, the executive office of elder affairs, the Massachusetts Councils on Aging, and AARP Massachusetts, will be responsible for creating this educational program. The initiative aims to equip seniors with essential skills and knowledge to effectively manage their finances.

 

LGBTQ Aging Commission

H. 778, An Act Relative to the LGBTQ Aging Commission, permanently establishes the LGBTQ Aging Commission with the sole mission of addressing the needs of older LGBTQ adults as well as their caregivers. The commission’s responsibilities include investigating and analyzing areas of import such as health, housing, financial, psychological, and long-term care requirements; additionally, the commission will provide recommendations to improve access to benefits and services, and will assess the impact of state policy on older adults in the LGBTQ community.
